Red Velvet Cake Recipe Demonstration

Recipe here: Stephanie Jaworski of Joyofbaking.com demonstrates how to make a Red Velvet Cake. A Red Velvet Cake is very dramatic looking with its bright red color that is offset by a creamy white frosting. If we look beyond the striking appearance of this cake, we will find that it has a mild chocolate flavor with a moist and tender crumb. The mild chocolate flavor comes from adding a small amount of cocoa powder to the batter and buttermilk gives it a moist and tender crumb.

  5. Thank you for this recipe. i have a question i tried to make this recipe twice and both times something went wrong so the first time my frosting was thin and running so when i put it on the it was not as smooth and it didnt layer well. Than the second time i put the cake in the refrigerator overnight and my frosting was better. After i was done with the frosting i kept the cake in the refrigerator because the frosting started to become runny again. When i served it to my guests the frosting was fine but now the cake was tough since it has been in the refrigerator. what should i do? if i keep it out my frosting isnt right if i keep it in the refrigerator the texture of the cake isnt right?
